How It All Began...

Let me tell you a story.... Long before I was doing healing work, a dharma coach, or a mentor to women, I was an artist. I have made jewelry, clothing, and anything that I could make with my hands. I used to make bracelets in high school and sell them at school and the local head shop. Later, I would hitch hike around the country selling my hand made jewelry and clothes at festivals.

I remember sitting on the floor with my dear friend Lucas, while he hand polished amber. I would be stringing beads and creating jewelry to sell at the next festival or music show. We had so much fun being wild and free! Selling his Thai spicy noodles, our jewelry, and my clothing with our friends along the way. I traveled all over this country selling my jewelry- until my body forced me to stop.

Years later when I landed in Houston I worked at a gem and jewelry store down town. I met Chris there. Chris was a tall, eccentric fella with 0 gauge plugs in his lobes, tattoos all over his body, and a heart of gold. He was always working on some elaborate project with unusual gems. His visions and creativity were limitless. The last project I remember him making was a cluster of dripping, gemy grapes with tendrils!

Both Chris and Lucas inspired me greatly. They touched my heart through friendship, creativity, the arts. Both Lucas and Chris passed suddenly years a part. First Lucas in a bike accident, then Chris from a brain tumor. Both dear friends have been encouraging me to come back to jewelry, creativity, the arts. Both spirits have been reminding me the importance of creating with my hands.

When Chris passed suddenly, he left me half of his extensive gem and jewelry collection. To this day, I am still working with the gems he gifted me with. Most, if not all, of the pieces I make have some element of Chris woven into them. A gem, a reminder, a thread. I will be forever grateful to soul who named me Swati Jr and urged me to start an official jewelry business.

Reopening my Saraswati Adornments shop this weekend is a return to my creative roots in many ways. I'm excited to share with you more creativity, beauty and gems of earth and spirit with you along the way. 🙏🏽🕊📿⚡
